About the J/K

The J/K Comedy Club is an indie comedy theater that was founded subversively in the heart of the DreamWorks Animation campus by Nigel W. Tierney with the help of his good friends Damon Crowe and Garrett Broussard. J/K serves the dual abbreviation for both Just Kidding as well as namesake of DreamWorks former CEO, Jeffrey Katzenberg.

With the help of some of his fellow co-workers (whose jobs rely on their anonymity), Nigel occupied an abandoned space; learning how to install faux-brick walls, build a mini-stage, and acquire old restaurant booths from Craigslist.

Opening on St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, 2015, Nigel drafted the clubs core goals:

  • Enhance DreamWorks Animation's culture of creativity.

  • Provide a diverse industry night for the actual industry.

  • Serve as a performance space for any artist willing to share their art.

  • Guarantee a warm packed audience for headlining guest performers.

  • Partner new and up-and-coming talent with veteran performers.

  • Be the only club to allow Nigel to squeeze in a wee performance every now and again.
